Upon receipt of your Celebrity Hair, we highly recommend you inspect your hair before installing. It is important to leave the bundle intact and your hair unaltered during inspection to ensure you can return the hair for a refund or exchange if any issues are found. We are unable to authorize a refund or exchange on hair that has been altered in any way. (Please refer to our Return Policy here.)
For your convenience, we have co-washed your extensions for your first install. We highly recommend co-washing your extensions at least twice a week to gently cleanse and add essential moisture back into your hair. When co-washing your hair, wet your hair with warm water and use a generous amount of moisturizing conditioner. Be sure to scrunch the ends with conditioner and run your fingers through the hair in a downward motion from top to bottom to avoid any tangling. Comb the conditioner through with a wide-toothed comb. Rinse thoroughly with cold water. Gently pat dry with a towel to remove any excess water. Then, allow your hair to air dry naturally. To avoid damaging your extensions, do not rub the hair to dry or use heat from a blow dryer.
For extra protection of your wefts and to minimize shedding, we have already sealed your wefts for your first install. We recommend resealing your wefts before reinstalling your hair. Apply the sealant to the top and both sides of the weft. This guarantees a tightly sealed weft that will minimize shedding dramatically. There are several weft sealants on the market, but Dritz Fray Check or Aleene’s Fabric Fusion work great for sealing wefts as well.
We highly suggest a licensed cosmetologist install wefted hair. We advise you NOT to cut or sew through your wefts because this can cause shedding to occur. If it is necessary to cut your wefts, we recommend sealing the cut part with weft glue. When combing your wefts, hold the top to prevent any tension from pulling and always start from the ends working your way up.
Essential Care Tips
To remove product buildup, we suggest shampooing your hair extensions with a sulfate free clarifying shampoo and following up with a moisturizing or deep conditioner. To avoid drying out your investment use styling products minimally and avoid the use of alcohol based products. For curly hair, we recommend mixing leave-in conditioner and distilled water in a small spray bottle to maintain a fresh curly look.
Hair extensions should be treated as normal hair. Depending on the amount of products being used, you may shampoo your hair once a week with a low PH shampoo, preferably sulfate-free. Wash your hair with warm water to open the hair cuticles and allow the shampoo to cleanse your hair extensions. Follow up with a moisture-rich or deep conditioner. Rinse the conditioner out with cold water to close the hair cuticles and to seal in moisture which results in shiny, smooth hair with less frizz.
When using heat styling tools, try to use a heat protectant product to help prevent heat damage. Use appropriate heat settings for different hair textures (fine texture: low heat, medium texture: medium heat, coarse texture: medium-lowest high heat setting). Try not to overuse heat styling tools, as this can cause your hair extensions to dry out.
Please try not to sleep with wet hair extensions! This can cause tangling and matting. Before going to bed, we highly recommend braiding your hair into one loose braid at the back of your neck. Try using a bonnet or scarf made of satin or silk to retain moisture. You can take it one step further by sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase!
Other Important Tips
If swimming with hair extensions the following precautions are advised to be taken. Use a head band and place your hair in a loose braid. We do not recommended wearing a swim cap as this could cause matting. Try to avoid underwater swimming. If your hair extensions do get wet, we recommend you wash your hair immediately after swimming. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove chlorine or saltwater, a deep conditioner, and let your extensions air dry.
Exercising & Sauna
Fix your hair in one loose braid at the back of your neck prior to working out or entering a sauna. Do not wrap your hair in a towel, a tight bun, or a tight ponytail which can cause tangling and/or matting. After exiting a sauna, your hair will most likely be partially wet due to moisture. Let your hair cool before removing your braid or brushing your hair to prevent breakage. Once your hair is cool, comb through with a wide-toothed comb, and let your extensions air dry naturally. Follow through with shampooing and conditioning as needed.
Sunbathing & Tanning
Due to high temperatures and heat, it is not recommended to sunbathe or use tanning booths regularly or for long periods of time with hair extensions. Prior to sunbathing or tanning, fix your hair in one loose braid at the back of your neck to prevent tangling or matting from friction and/or sweat from laying on your hair for extended periods of time. After sunbathing or tanning, do not unbraid or brush your extensions until your hair has cooled down to prevent breakage. After hair cools, undo braid, and comb hair with a wide-toothed comb. Follow through with shampooing and conditioning as needed. We recommend you deep condition your hair after sunbathing or tanning to restore any lost moisture from high temperatures and effects from the sun.
Our closures are handmade with delicate hand sewing that allows the hair to be parted in any direction. Since each hair is ventilated through and knotted directly to the closure, there is not a lot of support holding the hair. As a result, closures are very fragile pieces that need to be handled with extra care to prevent them from balding. Balding can occur from the following, but not limited to, excessive tugging, scratching with fingernails and/or foreign objects, brushing and combing, applying product directly on your closure, vigorous washing, or rough handling. To care for your closure when you brush or comb your hair, start from the ends and gently work your way up making sure to hold the hair at the root to prevent tension.
